GEORGE LOPEZ: MAX'S BIG ADVENTURE {FIRST SEASON FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The first season finale in this comedy series, set in Los Angeles, in which comedian George Lopez plays family man "George Lopez." In this episode, one of George's employees, Reggie, is arrested after a bar fight, leaving a vacancy in the carpool, though Benny refuses to accept the unreliable Ernie back into the fold. George objects when Max asks to walk to school alone, feeling that he is too young, and he is further unimpressed when he attends Max's "street safety" school play with an eager Angie and a bored Benny, sure that his son has not learned the necessary skills to avoid danger. Benny agrees that Max is too "coddled," and Angie is annoyed when George turns to horror movies to "teach" Max about the threats of the real world.
Benny interviews a series of "contestants" for the carpool spot and again rejects Ernie when Frank explains that he has a fancy new minivan, complete with TVs. When Frank picks George up in the morning, George asks him to follow Max as he walks to school and "test" him by offering him a ride, using the classic predator lie of a lost puppy to entice him. Max does not fall for the trick, though his friend Timmy does, and George is forced to explain the awkward situation when his detective pal Jim "busts" him in the act. Max, unaware of his father's antics, later assures his mother that his solo walk went well, and Angie tells a still-worried George that he must allow their son to grow up – though Max soon proves that he is not yet quite as mature as they thought. Includes commercials and promos.
