Summary
One in this series about each hour in the day of the life of counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer, told in real time. In this episode, Kim is held hostage by Drazen's men, and Nina helps Jack to arrange a phone call between Victor and his injured son Alexis, whom he wants to trade for Jack, but Mason informs Nina that Chappelle has refused the deal, saying that Jack is "expendable." Nina calls Palmer, however, and Palmer forces Mason to organize the trade, promising him an important government position once he is elected President. Victor and Andre meet up with an old friend, Nikola, and Jack attempts to escape their clutches using Nikola's daughter Mila as a hostage, but Victor ends up shooting both the girl and her father. Sherry notices Palmer's distraction and tells him to spend his time "making an impression," and Palmer's flirtation with Patty deepens as they spend time alone together. However, it is then revealed that Patty is working for Sherry and getting close to him per her instruction. The Drazens drop Jack off at a remote location and gives him a scrambled phone, saying that he will be contacted once the trade is complete. Mason delivers Alexis and demands Jack's whereabouts, but Drazen's men refuse to confirm Kim's safety, as they still need her as leverage. Back at CTU, Nina tracks their movements with a device planted on Alexis, but they soon find it and destroy it, and Jack receives Andre's phone call and drives off under his orders. Commercials deleted.
