BRADY BUNCH, THE: FATHER OF THE YEAR (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about a woman with three daughters who marries a man with three sons. In this episode, Marcia enters Mike in the Daily Chronicle’s “father of the year” contest by writing an essay about his devotion to the family. She stays up late to work on the piece in Mike’s den, then hides her efforts from Jan and Cindy. When Mike catches the girls squabbling, he gives Marcia a stern reprimand before sending her to bed. The next day, Mike gives Marcia some extra chores as a punishment. When she works on her essay instead of doing the chores, Marcia is grounded for a week by Mike. However, to get the essay to the newspaper by deadline, Marcia has to sneak out of the house to mail it. When Carol and Mike find her climbing back in the bedroom window, Mike won’t allow Marcia to go on the family’s skiing trip. Marcia’s letter turns out to be one of three in contention for the top prize. However, Marcia can’t be cheered up as she watches the others preparing for the getaway. When a film crew arrives at the Brady house, Mike is shocked to hear that he’s receiving the newspaper’s top honor. Mike then realizes what was behind Marcia’s efforts and he gives her a hug which is photographed for the front page. Commercials deleted.
