ALIAS: SUCCESSION (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic action series about CIA double agent Sydney Bristow and her adventures with her colleagues and her enemies. In this episode, in Berlin, two undercover CIA agents are abducted as their elevator is airlifted by a helicopter. In Los Angeles, Jack talks to Sydney about the brainwashing and memory loss that she experienced over her missing two years, promising to hide the tape on which she is seen murdering Lazarey and adding that he will turn to Irina for help. Weiss helps Sydney move, and Sydney reflects sadly that both Francie and Will are gone from her life seemingly overnight. Weiss tells her that Vaughn "dropped off the face of the Earth" when Sydney disappears and is unlikely to return to the CIA. Dixon updates the team on the missing agents, explaining that they were likely taken by a group called the Covenant, and then tells Sydney privately that there are support groups for agents who have "lost time." Weiss and Sydney head to Munich to recover a package left by the kidnappers, and Sydney is distressed to find that it contains one of the agents' heads and a list of demands.
NSC Director Lindsey explains that according to Sloane, the Covenant is willing to trade the other agent for Sark, possibly in order to kill him. Sydney objects strongly, saying that Sark is dangerous and Sloane is untrustworthy, but Dixon permits the trade nonetheless. Sydney spots her name on a list of dead agents and Jack admits that "her" body was cremated. Sydney finds Vaughn working as a French teacher and tells him that he should feel free to return to the CIA if he chooses to. He admits that he spiraled into despair and heavy drinking after her "death," but does not regret moving on with his life. Jack visits Sloane in Zurich at his so-called world relief organization and demands answers about Sydney's disappearance, not believing that he has changed. Sloane denies everything and gives Jack evidence that he himself investigated the matter, but Jack vows to "bury" him. Sark is stunned to see Sydney alive, claiming that he has no idea whether Sloane was behind her disappearance or not, but she refuses to believe him and accuses him of murdering Francie. They head to a Mexican desert to make the trade, but Delta Force suddenly arrives and the kidnappers escape with the agent. Dixon, furious, realizes that Lindsey used them as bait to recover their man without having to hand Sark over.
Sydney accosts Lindsey in a bathroom and accuses him of endangering their mission, while elsewhere Sark meets a Ushek San'ko, who states that he will forgive Sark killing his brother in exchange for $800 million, which Sark swears he does not have. However, Jack explains to the team that Sark did in fact inherit a fortune in gold bullion from his dead father: Lazarey. Jack and Sydney agree that the Covenant was likely responsible for her disappearance and brainwashing, and when Jack contacts Irina and tells her that their daughter is alive, she sends him information to assist their quest. Sydney poses as a biochemistry student and heads to a Frankfurt nightclub that is really a Covenant front. She meets with the owner, Otto, and offers to improve his narcotics business, but then incapacitates him and gains access to the basement. Weiss and Vaughn aid her in obtaining the necessary security codes, and she finds the other CIA agent and shoots his captor. Sydney is shocked when the man tells her that she was his "favorite" and "never broke," but dies before giving her any more answers. Back in L.A., she gives the support group a try, but then bursts into Dixon's office and tells him that she cannot attend the meetings despite still having feelings for Vaughn. Dixon then introduces her to Lauren Reed, who has assigned by Lindsey to investigate Lazarey's death – and is also Vaughn's wife. Includes commercials and promos.
