ALIAS: THE FRAME (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic action series about CIA double agent Sydney Bristow and her adventures with her colleagues and her enemies. In this episode, Vaughn hints at his marital troubles, asking Weiss if he can temporarily stay with him. The team then learns of a map that may lead to the key for the Rambaldi box, and Sydney asks to pursue the matter alongside Vaughn, still curious about the "Irina" inscription on the box. Dixon mentions that Senator Reed is investigating the box's disappearance as well, and Lauren states that she has already been questioned. In Mexico City, Kishell tells Sydney and Vaughn that the box allegedly contains "the Passenger," a powerful bioweapon, and that Joseph Stalin pursued the key as well. The crystal map containing its coordinates was lost, but has recently been located by Bomani, and Sydney spots Omnifam trucks in the surveillance photos. She demands answers from Sloane, who claims that he was maintaining his cover by working with Bomani and is not the mole, noting that the trucks can be tracked via satellite. At dinner, Lauren presents Vaughn with his father's repaired watch, but he tells her that he is not happy and wants to separate. Knowing that a breakup would endanger her mission, Lauren updates Sark, and he suggests that she should kill her father in order to emotionally manipulate Vaughn into staying with her, but she refuses.
Jack examines Lauren's travel records and then meets with Senator Reed to inform him, but Reed refuses to accept the possibility that his daughter is a traitor. The team tracks the Omnifam trucks to the Russian consulate, and Sydney goes undercover at a party held there to access the vault-like second floor, where Sark and Bomani are examining the crystal map. She and Vaughn recover the crystal, but set off a silent alarm and barely escape with their lives as Sark and Bomani fire on them. On the plane, Vaughn informs Sydney that he is ending things with Lauren. Lauren panics upon seeing that Jack accessed her files, and Sark reiterates that she should kill her father and frame him as the mole. Marshall is unable to locate the terrain shown on the map, but Rambaldi expert Sloane hints that it does not depict anywhere on land, and they find a matching underwater location in the Sea of Japan. Dixon tells Jack that Lauren will soon be arrested, and Lauren meets with her father, who has reviewed Jack's information and now believes that she is the mole. She prepares to kill him, but loses her nerve when he offers to cover for her out of fatherly love, but Mrs. Reed then bursts in and executes her husband, noting that Sark doubted Lauren's resolve.
Mrs. Reed tells Jack that the senator killed himself out of guilt over tricking Lauren into helping him betray his country, and Lauren "arrives" and acts stunned. Vaughn and Sydney dive to the underwater cave and he suggests that destroying the keys to protect Sydney, but Bomani catches up with them and makes off with the keys, commenting that the Passenger is Irina's "legacy." Sydney and Vaughn make it to the surface, though Bomani disappears, and Vaughn asks Sydney out for coffee later, implying that they will rekindle their romance. Lauren attempts to resign, but Dixon assures her that her father tricked her into helping the Covenant by pretending to investigate the Rambaldi box and that she is not at fault. Sydney and Vaughn return and hear the bad news, and Jack assumes that he was wrong about both Lauren and Sloane. However, Dixon informs Sloane that they have discovered his alliance with Reed and that his pardon is now revoked, meaning that he will be executed in two weeks' time. Vaughn calls Sydney late at night, and she is heartbroken to realize that he has gone back to Lauren after all, unable to abandon her in her "grief." Includes commercials and promos.
