INCREDIBLE HULK, THE: PROMETHEUS PART II (TV)

Summary

One in this series of science fiction dramas about the subject of an accidental overdose of radiation, Dr. David Bruce Banner, who turns into a hulking green creature when he grows enraged and must elude a zealous reporter named Jack McGee. The Prometheus project assembles a group of scientists from across the country in order to study the captured David, still caught halfway between his human and Hulk forms. Included in the research team is Dr. John Zeiderman, a medical doctor, Dr. Jason Spath, a roboticist, and Dr. Charlena McGowan, an anthropologist. They are all brought to a secret underground base in Colorado, where Jack sneaks in disguised as a guard. He witnesses the Hulk being shipped in a special containment unit into a holding area. Dr. Zeiderman examines Katie, whom Prometheus found near the site of the meteor impact. She is in good condition. The research team is briefed on the meteor crash and shown footage of Katie with David as he transforms into the Hulk. Meanwhile, Jack sneaks around the facility and manages to locate a monitor, which he uses to view the Hulk in the holding area, trapped by powerful microwave radiation barriers. He learns that Prometheus's purpose is to examine extraterrestrial life, and they believe that the Hulk originates from outer space. He also learns that the government plans to use the program's research to create weapons. The doctors perform various tests from a control center to try to interact with the Hulk. They discover that fragments of the meteor appear to cause him pain. The Hulk escapes the holding area by punching his way through the floor into the level below. Prometheus goes on red alert as guards chase the Hulk through the facility. Meanwhile, Jack finds Katie and frees her from her examination room. She tells him that the meteor somehow trapped David between his human and Hulk forms. They encounter the Hulk, who swats Jack aside and picks up Katie, fleeing with her. Along the way the Hulk disables their security monitors so that Prometheus doesn't see him enter into a series of corridors deep within the facility. Jack is caught and tries to explain himself to the research team. They threaten to have him arrested, but he counters with a threat to reveal the existence of Prometheus, particularly their intention to use alien technology to develop weapons. Some are surprised by this revelation, particularly Dr. Zeiderman, who believed that Prometheus was created purely for peaceful purposes. Jack tells them that the Hulk is not an alien, but rather a mutated human. He states that regardless of its terrestrial origin, the Hulk is worthy of study and they have come the closest to actually capturing him. As Katie and the Hulk make their way down the dark corridors, David begins to revert to his human form, although he is still partially in a transformed state. Katie theorizes that his distance from the meteor fragments is causing him to return to normal. In this state, much of David's memory is unavailable to him, and so he relies on Katie to help them escape. The security monitors come back online and Prometheus locates David. Jack pleads with them not to use force, as it will only enrage him and allow the Hulk to re-emerge. Instead, he asks to be able to speak with him. Katie and David find some clothes for him before locating a ventilation duct which she believes they can use to escape. However, they are stopped by Jack and a number of Prometheus personnel. He tries to reason with David, saying that he knows that all he wants is to be rid of the Hulk and that Prometheus could give him an opportunity to do just that. Jack asks that David trust him, although David is still confused from his partially-transformed state. Two guards sneak up behind David and take Katie, despite Jack's protests. Attempts to tranquilize David are unsuccessful, as he becomes so enraged that he transforms into the Hulk, and the guards flee in terror as the Hulk rips open the ventilation system. The Hulk takes Katie back from the guards and carries her into the vents. The Hulk then rotates one of the vent shafts into place, causing a fire in the facility's hydraulics system, which in turn causes a chain reaction which lights the entire place ablaze. The Hulk and Katie exit the facility and run off into the night; Jack follows but soon he loses sight of them. Once Katie and the Hulk put enough distance between themselves and the facility, he reverts to David Banner completely, no longer caught between his two forms. He is overjoyed to be back to normal. In Washington D.C., Jack learns from Dr. McGowan that Prometheus will be shut down for a number of years in order to be redesigned. For the time being he is not permitted to reveal the existence of the program, as it is top-secret. Katie decides to move back into the city, emboldened by her recent experiences. She bids farewell to David, who watches as her bus leaves before walking off alone. Commercials deleted. (Part 1 of "Prometheus" is not available at this time).
