Summary
One in this series of dramatic specials presented by Hallmark. In this drama, rancher Atticus Cody's son Scott comes home from Mexico for Christmas. Atticus, Scott's brother David, and David's wife Marilyn all think that Scott is wasting his life as a painter in Mexico. Meanwhile, Scott continues to deal with the emotions left over from the car wreck that killed his mother. Scott drove the car in the fatal accident, and the incident created a rift between him and his father that has yet to heal. Back in Mexico after the holidays, Scott enjoys a night out with his friend Reinhardt. On the drive home, they hit and kill a woman in the street, and Scott is devastated. Soon Atticus receives a call informing him that his son has committed suicide. He journeys to Mexico to retrieve Scott's body and meets Scott's former girlfriend Renata. Slowly, the grieving father notices odd details that lead him to conclude that Scott's suicide may actually have been a murder. In addition, he becomes suspicious of Renata, who has closed Scott's bank account. A beggar wearing a shirt he recognizes as belonging to his son leads Atticus Cody to a surprise -- and to more enigmas. He ends up untangling the threads of mystery, learning more about his son, and finally processing his wife's death. Includes commercials and promos.
