LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN {DWAYNE "THE ROCK" JOHNSON, SOLOMON BURKE, SNOWMOBILER JAY QUINLAN} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of late-night talk/variety programs hosted by David Letterman. This program features wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, blues singer Solomon Burke, and professional snowmobiler Jay Quinlan.

In his opening monologue, Letterman touches upon the following topics, among others: the previous night's Academy Awards ceremony; the ongoing winter weather; the capture of Saddam Hussein's half-brother Barasan Ibrahem Alhassen; and a nude karaoke bar in Connecticut.

Quinlan then performs a daring "no-footed can" jump over a large mound of snow outside on 53rd Street. Letterman introduces his favorite moment from the Oscars broadcast, found in Roger Mayer's acceptance speech for the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, and highlights President George W. Bush's "incomprehensible" comments. Quinlan performs the no-footed can jump again, followed by a "Saran Wrap no-hander."

Johnson then sits down with Letterman to discuss his new film "Be Cool" (2005); his "conflicted" character, a bodyguard/aspiring actor coming to terms with his sexuality; his singing and dancing scenes in the movie, inspired by the traditions of his Samoan heritage; his praise for Clint Eastwood, whose film "Million Dollar Baby" (2004) just won four Academy Awards; why he turned to an entertainment career after enjoying success in football and professional wrestling; the perks of being a star athlete at the University of Miami; his views on steroid use; his many question for veteran actor John Travolta while filming "Be Cool"; and his experience on the reality series "Punk'd," during which his trailer was blown up with explosives.

Finally, Quinlan performs a backflip trick, after which Burke performs "I Need Your Love in My Life" from his new album "Make Do With What You Got." Includes commercials and promos.
