LOST: CONFIRMED DEAD (TV)

Summary

One in this fantasy drama series about a group of plane-crash survivors forced to live with each other on a remote and mysterious island. Characters’ past lives are told through frequent flashbacks. In this episode, what appears to be the wreckage of Flight 815 is discovered on the ocean floor, and Daniel Faraday weeps as he watches the news report, though he cannot explain why. Elsewhere, a helicopter encounters turbulence and Daniel parachutes onto the island, where he recognizes Kate and Jack. He tries to use their satellite phone to call his boat, but under Jack's questioning hesitantly admits that rescuing them is not his team's "primary objective." Locke takes his group on a "detour" towards Jacob's cabin, confusing everyone by stating that he was told to do so by "taller ghost Walt." He then adds that Ben recently shot him, but he survived it because of his fateful missing kidney. Daniel, Kate and Jack locate Faraday's associate Miles, who pulls a gun and demands the truth about Naomi's death, revealing that her final words about her sister were really code words indicating danger . In California, Miles arrives at a woman's home and communicates with her deceased grandson for a fee, though he returns half of it after finding cash and drugs hidden in the boy's room. On the island, Miles demands to be taken to Naomi's body, stating that he will "know" what really happened to her.

Sawyer attacks Ben when Ben taunts him about Kate, demanding to know why they are bothering to keep him alive. Miles uses his abilities and determines that Naomi was indeed murdered by Locke, and they are joined by an armed Juliet and Sayid as they head off in search of another team member, Charlotte. In the Tunisian desert, Charlotte finds the remains of a polar wearing a Dharma collar, and on the island she frees herself from her parachute and encounters Locke's group. She is stunned to learn that they are survivors of 815, particularly when Locke informs her that they "don't want to be found." Jack soon finds Charlotte's transmitter attached to Vincent and realizes that Locke has her. In the Bahamas, Frank Lapidus watches the TV report on the wreckage discovery and immediately recognizes that the pilot's corpse is not that of Seth Norris, who took his place on 815 and who was actually killed by the "monster" after the crash. Frank awakens on the island and shoots off a flare, which spotted by Charlotte, but Ben suddenly shoots her. She is revealed to be wearing a bulletproof vest, however, and Jack and the others are pleased when they find Frank and he reveals that he managed to land the helicopter safely.

Off-island, Naomi complains to Abaddon that Daniel, Charlotte, Miles and Frank do not make an adequate team for the job, but he orders her to protect them, sternly adding that they will not find any survivors of 815. Daniel contacts the boat, but Regina tells him that George is unavailable, and Frank quickly deduces that Juliet is a "native," having carefully studied the 815 manifest. Miles then demands to know where "he" is, revealing that their team's true objective is to find Ben. In the woods, Locke ignores Alex's pleas and decides to kill Ben after all, but Ben quickly reveals that he knows everything about Charlotte and her other team members, including their plans to capture him, because he has a spy on the freighter.
