UGLY BETTY: FAMILY / AFFAIR (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy-drama series about Betty Suarez, a young Queens woman trying to make it in the fashion industry despite her unglamorous appearance.

In this episode, Daniel tells Betty at the hospital that Alexis has amnesia as a result of their car accident. Accordingly, Alexis thinks that she's part of a "happy family" and is ignorant of Claire's criminal status and Bradford's plan to marry Wilhelmina. Betty tells Daniel that he's needed back at Mode as Wilhelmina is taking over at the office and has refused to provide her with the upcoming edition's proofs to show him. Betty returns to Mode alone, where she overhears that the pages are at Wilhelmina's apartment. Betty then steals one of Wilhelmina's home keys.

Hilda tries to deal with her grief over Santos, as well as Ignacio's detainment in Mexico. However, she manages to be cheered up by Justin's internship at Mode. On his first day, Justin falls under Marc's mean-spirited tutelage and proves consistently resourceful. Marc also finds time to console Amanda, assuring her that they'll find out through DNA testing if Bradford is her real father. Shortly thereafter, Amanda discovers that her only inheritance from Fey is a tiny, gremlin-like dog, Halston. Elsewhere, Henry tells Betty that he can't wait to be a father, and that he'll only return to Mode if Betty is OK with his being back there.

Later, Betty takes Christina with her upon breaking into Wilhelmina's apartment. After finding the pages, they're quickly interrupted as Wilhelmina and her handsome new bodyguard, Dwayne, arrive for an afternoon tryst. Two hours later, Betty and Christina escape from their hiding place, but not before Wilhelmina finds one of Betty's earrings and realizes what has transpired. She then calls Marc and assigns him to find out how Betty can be blackmailed. Meanwhile, Ignacio tells Clara that he's decided to sneak across the border into America as he has no hopes of getting his visa back.

When Wilhelmina confronts Betty at the office, she offers a deal: Betty's silence to Daniel about Dwayne in return for a guarantee to have Ignacio immediately returned to New York City. She gives Betty until the end of the day to make a decision. As Bradford relays to Daniel that he wants to make a fresh start with Alexis, Christina decides to educate Henry about Charlie's duplicitous ways. Across town, Amanda takes Halston to a pound, but later has a last-minute change of heart and opts to save him from being gassed.

Ignacio calls Betty and tells her of his plan to return to America illegally, forcing her to accept Wilhelmina's deal. However, upon hanging up the phone, Ignacio is attacked and held at gunpoint by a mystery man. Meanwhile, Wilhelmina is incensed when Bradford tells her that he's postponing the wedding until Alexis can get acclimated to the idea. Finally, a guilt-ridden Betty -- having just been congratulated by Daniel for her honesty -- returns home, where she finds an inebriated Henry. Betty's world takes another spin as Henry claims that Charlie's infidelity has erased the only thing keeping him from her. Includes commercials.
