Summary
One in this dramatic suspense series about two Yale students framed – seemingly by their best friend -- for a terrorist bombing.
In this episode, nearly four days after the bombing, Tyler and Jay meet up in New York as Detective Marlow pursues a lead in Boston, though Agent Chambers orders Agent Borjes to stay behind, demanding to know how "John Doe" was allowed to escape, along with his fingerprints and all other information. Will, still mourning Maya, observes the destroyed boat. When he is attacked by a henchman, he angrily overpowers the man and orders him to "tell them I'm coming." Agents Chambers and Borjes go to the morgue, where the mortician manages to pull a clear fingerprint from Agent Fowler's body.
At Boston Hall, Will misses Agents Watkins and Marlow by inches as he searches the lock box and finds it empty. Jay and Tyler discover that Derek Sellars has shredded all of his documents and erased his hard drives, though a scrap of paper suggests insider trading was conducted before the bombing. That means someone knew of the terrorist plot and sought to profit financially from the event. After narrowly escaping a shooter, Tyler seeks out an old college friend, Eddie Hahn, who secured a job at Fog Financial thanks to Tyler's recommendation. Agents Watkins and Marlow observe the security camera footage and finally identify Will; Eddie reluctantly helps Tyler and Jay, unearthing evidence that Carlton himself dumped his stocks immediately before the bombing, strongly suggesting that he was involved with the plot. Tyler, unable to believe that his father could have set him up to be killed, decides to confront him.
Jay drags Eddie back to his apartment and ties him up for the night; elsewhere, Tyler surprises Carlton and demands answers. To his astonishment, Carlton basically confirms that he arranged for his disappointing son and his friends to die at the Drexler out of a desire to "secure the family's future." Agents Agent Marlow and Watkins figure out that Jay and Tyler returned to New York and immediately set up surveillance on Kim and Carlton. Will meets up with his shady contact Jimmy, who provides him with firearms and new IDs, and Agent Marlow gives Agent Borjes the name of an NSA contact through whom he might be able to identify John Doe. Will then meets up with a fellow agent, Alex, who coldly informs him that he is to blame for Maya's death, as he defied his orders at the Drexler. She attempts to execute him with a knife, and he shoots her dead. Agent Borjes is stunned to learn that John Doe is actually "one of them," an undercover federal agent; when Agent Chambers receives a tip about Eddie's absence from work, he finds him alive and tied up in his apartment – and spots Tyler lurking nearby.
