TRAVELER: THE TELLS (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic suspense series about two Yale students framed – seemingly by their best friend -- for a terrorist bombing.
In this episode, Will is captured by his bosses, who remove the tracking device implanted by the mysterious hotel porter. When the porter asks about their meeting with Maya, Jay and Tyler realize that he has been tracking them as well via a device in Jay's wristwatch; when they demand answers, the porter says only that Will is "not someone they want to find." Elsewhere, Agents Marlow and Borjes learn from M.E. Lengrand that the body from the Drexler is not Will's, but that of Paul Murden, who was dead of a broken neck before the blast. The porter narrowly manages to save Tyler and Jay's lives when they are fired upon by an unseen assailant. Chambers learns that Will is most likely still alive as Will himself is brought to a hotel room and questioned by a woman calling herself Kate. Jay and Tyler head to Boston to investigate the antiquated key; when Kate demands to know how Jay and Tyler escaped the bombing alive, Will swears that he followed the plan as ordered. Flashbacks show that he encountered and killed Paul right before the explosion, thus creating the corpse that was mistaken for his own. Kate, however, sees through his lies and deduces that he had become compromised by his genuine fondness of the two men he was meant to kill and frame.
In Massachusetts, historical tour guide Benedict, tells Jay and Tyler that the key is for a research locker at the Boston Hall library. Kate continues interrogating Will, who feigns ignorance about the stolen painting. Jay and Tyler are forced to conclude that their "friend" was deceiving them all along when they search the locker and find a number of fake passports and a gun; back in New York, Agents Marlow and Borjes discover a strange bleached-blond man cleaning Paul's apartment of all DNA evidence. The mysterious man instructs Kate to get real answers from Will and then "close his file." When Jay and Tyler find evidence that Derek Sellars is financially tied to Will, they risk returning to New York, where they are wanted criminals, in order to question him. The "cleaner" refuses to talk to the police, and Kate torments Will with audio of a captured Maya pleading for her life. He finally admits to stealing the painting and stashing it in a car left in a LaGuardia Airport parking lot – but Kate then coldly reveals that the audio is a recording and Maya has already been murdered. Enraged, Will manages to free himself and kill Kate before escaping.
Jay and Tyler drive back to New York to find Derek, deciding that Will "picked the wrong guys to frame." Agents Marlow and Borjes are stunned to find that their silent prisoner has somehow escaped custody. In a flashback, two weeks before the bombing, Joseph updates Will about the plan and asks if he has any reservations about framing and murdering his two roommates; Will assures him that he does not. In the present, one of Kate's henchmen heads to LaGuardia and finds the car described by Will – but rather than the painting, the trunk contains a bomb, which explodes.
