DIRTY SEXY MONEY: THE WEDDING (TV)
Summary
On in this drama series about a troubled lawyer whose life is overtaken by his employers: a super-rich, morally-challenged family in New York City. In this episode, Brian frets over writing a sermon for the Karen and Freddy's wedding, while elsewhere Patrick makes it clear at a press conference that he has no problem prosecuting his father's friends. Karen admits to her mother that she is having second thoughts about the wedding, though claims it is not because of Nick. Tripp and Patrick argue about the press conference, and Patrick informs his father that he has already moved out of the Imperial. Tripp begins his tradition of drinking heavily on his daughter's wedding days and tells Nick to meet with the tabloid reports to facilitate the pricey sale of the photos. Brian is stunned when Andrea returns unexpectedly from Brazil, and Tish orders Nick to aid Karen in going through with the wedding by telling her that he does not and will never love her, though he seems hesitant. Juliet begins to reconsider her position on Natalie after her former best friend dedicates an apology song to her on the radio, though Jeremy declares that she must have an ulterior motive.
Lisa is upset to learn that Nick is skipping her gallery opening in order to assist Karen with her wedding, sure that Karen's reluctance is because of her feelings for Nick, and decides not to attend herself. Brian berates Andrea for abandoning their son, but soon finds that he still has strong feelings for her. Ellen reveals that she is fully aware of Patrick's affair, though he continues to deny it. At the wedding, Patrick accuses Tripp of betraying him, pointing out that he hired a private investigator to tail him. Tripp and Tish meet Kiki, and Nick haggles with the tabloid photographers, who are reluctant to pay too much for Karen's fourth wedding, and he is forced to promise them racy honeymoon photos as well to make the sale. An increasingly drunk Tripp attempts to give Karen a pep talk before the ceremony, and everyone seems touched by Brian's surprisingly heartfelt sermon. As soon as they are wed, Freddy privately admits to Karen that while he was initially only interested in her money, he has since genuinely fallen in love with her, and he "re-proposes" to her and asks for a real marriage. In response, Karen immediately tells Nick that she wants a divorce. Tish pleads with her to reconsider, but Karen refuses to listen and agrees only to delay in telling Tripp about the split. Patrick and Ellen continue arguing on the dance floor, and Nick draws up annulment papers, promising Freddy that he will receive the $3 million promised in the pre-nup. Freddy bitterly accuses Karen of being in love with Nick, informing her that she will "die alone."
Patrick tells Simon the truth about Carmelita, and Simon convinces him to be fully honest with Ellen. He then speaks with a Russian man, however, confirming that Ellen does not know that he is behind the plot. Karen admits to Nick that she is indeed in love with him and tries to kiss him, but he puts a stop to it, clearly conflicted about Lisa. Karen finally tells her father about the annulment, and Nick updates Lisa, assuring her that he is "hers" and that the divorce was not because of him. Patrick confesses his affair to Ellen, but she makes it clear that she cares more about the success of his political campaign than about the fate of their marriage. Juliet and Natalie rekindle their friendship, and Andrea informs Brian that she is taking their son back to Brazil. Karen admits to her mother that she still loves Nick and wishes to marry him, and Tish offers to assist her. Tripp tries to make amends with Patrick, but Patrick reveals that he is in league with Simon, and Tripp rages to Nick that he intends to "destroy" his enemy once and for all.
