BROTHERS & SISTERS: MATRIARCHY {SEASON ONE FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series about the California-based Walker family, an adult clan of siblings trying to live up to their parents' lofty expectations after the death of the family patriarch.
In this episode, Kitty announces at a family dinner that she doesn't want an engagement party, but she's quickly overruled. Nora insists to Rebecca that Holly attend the gathering. Saul is unsettled after hearing that Nora has already asked the newly divorced Milo Peterman to attend. Later, Justin gets a call that he's to report to boot camp ahead of schedule. As he makes plans with all of his siblings before the date of departure, Justin learns that Nora is horrified by his thinking that he might not return from Iraq. Going home, Tommy finds Julia still in bed and depressed about William. Tommy tries to cheer her up with news that Elizabeth will soon be out of the hospital.
The next day, Kitty agonizes to Robert about telling her mother that she'll be moving out of the house. Kevin and Jason find that they've both been assigned by family members to organize Kitty's party. After Kevin insults the owner of a venue that Nora selected to house the event, Jason and Kevin decide that the event should be held at the Walker home. When the family pitches in to get out the invitations, Kitty finally tells Nora that she'll be leaving her abode, causing an argument to erupt in front of the siblings.
At the party, Nora meets Robert's boisterous uncle, Jack Weiner, along with Robert's equally eccentric relatives. Saul comes back into contact with Milo, who tells him that he has recently come out of the closet. Milo suggests that they get together, but Saul puts him off. Holly gives pointers to Sarah about her speech for Kitty and Robert, then admits that she's tired of them hating each other. In the pantry, Jason and Kevin exchange insults before engaging in a passionate kiss. Meanwhile, Jack's elaborate conga line causes the tent to collapse atop the revelers. Finding a quiet room upstairs, Rebecca tells Justin about her affair with a teacher when she was sixteen, leading to the breakup of the man's marriage and his suicide. Rebecca also admits to being partially responsible for her kiss with Joe. Justin returns her confidence by admitting that he's sneaking out of the party to report for duty without telling Nora.
Later, Sarah's speech is well received, as is Jason's blessing. A surprised Kevin then asks Kitty why she never told him that Jason is a minister. After Nora and Kitty reconcile, Rebecca tells them that Justin has left. Nora and Kitty race to the airport, where they find Justin and exchange teary goodbyes before he boards the plane. As Kevin and Jason acknowledge their attraction and make a date, Jack taunts Nora about being staid. She then jumps into the pool with her clothes on, followed by Sarah, Kevin, Tommy, Kitty, Saul, Holly, Rebecca, and Robert. Includes commercials.
