DIRTY SEXY MONEY: THE CHIAVENNASCA (TV)

Summary

On in this drama series about a troubled lawyer whose life is overtaken by his employers: a super-rich, morally-challenged family in New York City. In this episode, an overworked Nick promises to spend a date night alone with Lisa, while elsewhere a furious Tripp confronts Tish about her decades-long affair with Dutch, and she assures him that all of their children are indeed his. Jeremy, still hiding his relationship with his sister's nemesis Natalie, is pleased when she surprises him with an early birthday present, though when he in turn rents out the Angelika Film Center for her, she explains that she has agreed to make an appearance at a glamorous new nightclub on the same night. Tripp tells Nick to travel to Italy and seek out a certain "chiavennasca," or rather a globe-trotting spy, Harold Templeton, who may have useful information about Dutch's "Elder dossier" and his meetings with the unknown "C." Lisa is suspicious when Karen buys her a pair of expensive shoes as a "kindly" gesture, and Nick invites her along to Italy – though they are then joined on their European jaunt by Karen and Freddy.

Brian, still pretending that his biological son is the orphan "Gustav," orders Brian Jr. to defy Jesus' commands and fight back against a school bully – who turns out to be a girl – and Tripp recruits Dr. Peter Delafield to unearth the truth about "his" five children. At the nightclub, Natalie and Jeremy try to enjoy a secret rendezvous, and he is later outraged when the tabloids focus on her so-called date with Ryan Casdale. Karen and Freddy again interrupt Nick and Lisa's lunch together, and when he asks for the "slightly chilled" chiavennasca, he is led to a meeting with Harold, who agrees to look into Dutch's activities. Natalie assures Jeremy that she has no real interest in Ryan, but Juliet finally catches them together and flies into a rage over her twin's apparent betrayal. Karen, indulging in a bit too much grappa with Lisa, tells her rival about Nick's impulsive proposal to her at age 19, and Lisa is furious with her husband's deception. At a family dinner, Brian admits to joining the church because he felt out of place in his family's high-society lives and Harold tells Nick that Dutch had a file on both Simon Elder and Dutch himself, meaning that he was working for someone other than the Darlings, perhaps "C."

Juliet declares that Natalie is merely using her brother as a pawn in their rivalry, and Nick tells Lisa about his true assignment in Italy, assuring her that they have a connection far deeper than what he once shared with Karen. After receiving his kids' DNA results, Dutch coldly demands that Tish tell him herself which one of the five is in fact Dutch's offspring, though her reply is not seen, and Brian Jr. blackmails his father into intimidating Chora, the bully, with the threat of eternal damnation. Nick returns to New York and updates Tripp, explaining that Dutch was something of a double agent, and when Jeremy and Natalie declare their love for one another under the "stars," she reveals that she is pregnant. Later, Simon Elder finds Nick – and possibly reveals himself to be "C." includes commercials and promos.
