FACTS OF LIFE, THE: EX MARKS THE SPOT (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about four female students learning about the facts of life from a surrogate mother.

In this episode, Jo reads through a career book for ideas, and everyone is surprised by the arrival of Frank Stickle, Beverly Ann's no-good ex-husband. Beverly Ann is not pleased to see him and asks how his "trollop" is doing. He assures her that he regrets his past mistakes and wants to make a change in his life. She guesses that he wants to get back together and quickly confides in the girls. Though they all roundly declare it to be a bad idea, Beverly Ann seems intrigued by the prospect. Frank then suffers severe stomach pains, and they all accompany him to the emergency room; Jo is highly uncomfortable being in a hospital. Beverly Ann considers her future with Frank and resolves to care for him in his illness, but she is then stunned by the appearance of Noreen, Frank's new wife.

The doctor assures them both that he merely suffered a minor stomach issue. Beverly Ann confronts Frank, who explains that he came to see her to discuss his plan to sell their old house. She refuses, angry that he is still trying to upend her life long after their divorce. She complains to Oliver that Frank has always tried to make big decisions for her; he suggests that she is holding onto the house as a symbol of the past and of her former marriage. Beverly Ann then declares that they are "not relating to each other" at the moment. Jo continues pondering her future, though Beverly Ann misinterprets the girls' conversation as backhanded advice about her own situation, much to their confusion. She returns to the hospital with a nervous Jo for support and encounters Noreen, who notes that they could have "almost liked each other" had they met under different circumstances. Beverly Ann then tells Frank that she is ready to let go of their past together, agreeing to sell the house after all and giving the couple her blessing for a happy marriage. Commercials deleted.
