IMUS IN THE MORNING: LIVE FROM THE MUSEUM OF TELEVISION & RADIO, PT. 2 OF 3 (RADIO)

Summary

Continued from R:12864. One in this series of morning radio programs hosted by the outlandish Don Imus. Part two of three in this special edition, which was broadcast live from The Museum of Television & Radio. In part two, Imus becomes annoyed with the Museum's technical set-up; an impersonator of the late Richard M. Nixon recites political commentary, explains what the Museum has to offer, and calls Imus's brother a loser; Eileen Marchese-Cohen reads the weather report; a clothing designer discusses the clothes he gave to Pat O'Brien; Imus comments on politics in Boston; one of the on-air personalities offers jokes about O.J. Simpson and explains why illegal drugs still flow into the U.S.; impersonators of Bill Clinton and Beavis chat about a bar named Hooters; and Imus reminds the listeners that he will be giving away his jeep, which still contains some of "the I-Man's" DNA. Next, Charles McCord reads the news, which includes reports on President Clinton's decision to send troops to Bosnia, Congressional legislation on defense spending, the Whitewater scandal, and balanced budget talks. Then, Imus and his colleagues experience technical difficulties, which they find annoying, yet amusing; Imus insults O'Brien's clothing, which he calls unsuitable for his age; McCord reports that NATO has approved the deployment of ships to Bosnia; Imus comments on his brother's illness and the doctors in New Mexico; and Rob Bartlett and the Bartletts perform "That Old Guy Robert Dole" to the tune of "That Old Time Rock 'n' Roll." When Imus begins to read an ad for SNET telephone service, he becomes frustrated, says the ad is full of lies, and uses foul language to describe his opinion of SNET. Next, Mike Breen reads the sports news and sings an original verse to "Joy to the World" that mocks Imus; a clip of "The Jack Benny Show" is played; former Mayor Ed Koch talks with Imus about his book, "Murder at City Hall," as well as his new career paths, his disapproval of sending troops to Bosnia, his opinion of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and his common response when people ask him to run for mayor again. Then, impersonators of Clinton and Beavis discuss the situation in Bosnia; Imus comments on the technical problems and agrees to sign books for the Museum audience; McCord reviews the news and comments on Hillary Clinton's recent trip to England; James Brown impersonator Rob Bartlett perform "The Big Buttered Woman" with the Bartletts; Breen reviews the sports news; Imus defends his accidental swearing during the SNET spot; Imus thanks the technical staff of the Museum for their help; Imus suggests a fitting memorial for his brother when he dies; a clip from "Amos 'n' Andy" is played; and Marchese-Cohen gives the traffic report as Imus insults the appearance of her baby. Includes commercials. Continues with R:12866.

(Network affiliation varies; this series also aired on WNBC in New York City from 1971 to 1987.)
