WHAD'YA KNOW? WITH MICHAEL FELDMAN {SERIES PREMIERE} (RADIO)

Summary

The premiere of this series of whimsical quiz programs, hosted by Michael Feldman. In this installment, Feldman begins the program with a sampling of odd news stories, including one about a stenographer jailed for typing too slowly. Feldman then speaks with impressionist Michael Cabot III, who impersonates Mr. T, Archie and Edith Bunker, Johnny Carson, and Presidents Ronald Reagan, John F. Kennedy, and Richard M. Nixon. Feldman takes questions from the audience, leading to comments about leisure suits, the candy "Fizzies," and soap operas. In the quiz segments of the program, audience members team up with callers to respond to obscure questions about bees, acceptable vermin levels in tomato paste, the fate of inhaled peanuts, and the edibility of armadillos. Quiz winners receive modest prizes donated by local businesses. Feldman also makes unsuccessful attempts to contact an entity called "The Informer" on the telephone. Other segments of the program include: announcer Jim Packard's salute to the city of Fond du Lac; a demonstration by model Sheila Lindell on the proper way to walk in high-heeled shoes; and a contest for the best use of the reinforced black bottom of a plastic two-liter bottle (the winning suggestion entails a Valkyrie costume). Pianist John Thulin provides instrumental interludes throughout the program.
