POLISH RADIO HOUR, THE {KOSOFSKY ETHNIC RADIO COLLECTION -- POLISH} (RADIO)
Summary
One in this series of radio sermons for Polish Americans in the Chicago area. Bishop Leon Grochowski devotes this sermon of the Polish National Church to the question of which church is the one that truly belongs to Jesus Christ. The bishop begins by explaining that over the course of history there have been about 200 churches. As the years went by, the fight for religious purity was often bloody and merciless, as in the reign of the Spanish Inquisition. Only Jesus, the bishop suggests, can determine which church is right: the answer is in the teachings of the New Testament. As an example, he refers to the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman he met drawing water at the well. The woman, suggests the priest, symbolizes the many suffering people who need the water of life -- that is, the truth of God. He reminds listeners that Jesus told the woman that the time will come when real believers will enjoying abiding with truth and with God. He concludes by affirming our faith in God as a spirit and urging all who listen to offer their life, work, and suffering to Jesus.
