POLISH RADIO HOUR, THE {KOSOFSKY ETHNIC RADIO COLLECTION -- POLISH} (RADIO)
Summary
One in this series of radio sermons for Polish Americans in the Chicago area. Bishop Leon Grochowski devotes this sermon of the Polish National Church to the question of defining which church is a real "Christian's church." He suggests that the real church is one based on the teachings of Jesus and on the truth contained in the Bible. During the long history of the Christian religion, he reminds listeners, many barbarous and terrible acts have been committed in the name of God. In Spain, in China, and all over the world, Christians have given their lives for their faith. He notes that this violence betrays the ideals of Jesus, whose principal focus is love. He contends that no crime can be explained by commitment to religion, stressing the demand of Jesus that humans keep our morals and souls high. The bishop reminds his audience that the teachings of Jesus represent a message from God; consequently, the priest says, humans must follow the teachings and life of Christ as an example for our lives and our faith. Faith is not enough, suggests the bishop; we must also do good for others. We must follow our master, who shows us how to live in God and how to love God. The bishop concludes by answering a question about the Polish National Church.
