LE SHOW (RADIO)
Summary
One in this series of comedy/variety programs hosted by
and starring Harry Shearer. This year-end edition of
"Le Show" reviews the spectacular year of 1991. Skits
include a parody of President George Bush during the war
in the Persian Gulf; a debate between impersonators of
Johnny Carson and Joan Rivers about whether the Super
Bowl should be played during the war; a
behind-the-scenes examination of CBS News during the
war; a spoof of talk radio, in which a Saddam Hussein
impersonator calls in for advice; a segment about Mayor
Tom Bradley of Los Angeles and the beating of motorist
Rodney King; a spoof of a talk show "expert" about the
attempted coup in the Soviet Union; and a review of the
Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings. Shearer
concludes the program by announcing that this program
was taped and that he will return live for the first
show of 1992 on the following week.
(This program aired live on KCRW-Radio in Santa Monica,
