PRESIDENT FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT: FIRESIDE CHAT #19
(RADIO)
Summary
President Franklin D. Roosevelt discusses the war with Japan and states that the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was the "climax of a decade of immorality practiced by Japan, Italy, and Germany." He notes the setback caused by the attack on Pearl Harbor, says that the casualty lists will be high, warns of propaganda, and says that the official reports won't be delayed unless the facts will aid the enemy. The president states that the war will be long and hard and that war industry production must increase, says America will accept only a "complete victory," and warns that isolationism can't be followed again. He says he believes that Nazi methods of rule should be destroyed and concludes, "We are going to win the war and we are going to win the peace that follows."
