DUFFY'S TAVERN (RADIO)

Summary

One in this comedy series about the denizens of Duffy's Tavern, a seedy bar and grill. In this episode, Archie plans to build a floor show around popular Tavern singer Bob Graham. Archie discusses his plans with Eddie, Finnigan, and Miss Duffy, and tells them that he hopes to interest The Great Gildersleeve (special guest Willard Waterman) into backing the show financially. When Gildersleeve arrives, Archie discusses the economic situation with him and introduces him to Graham, who sings "People Will Say We're in Love." Although Gildersleeve enjoys Graham's song, he refuses to invest in the floor show. When Miss Duffy comes in, Gildersleeve falls for her and agrees to back the show if he can see a preview of it and if Miss Duffy can sing in it. Archie and the gang present for him the "Sawdust Capades of 1944." When Gildersleeve hears Miss Duffy sings he backs out of his promise.
