Summary
The first of four tapes concentrating on the last weekend of WABC Music Radio (Friday, May 7 through Monday, May 10, 1982). This portion features highlights from the last Dan Ingram and Peter Bush shows, blurbs from various other shows, tapes of jingles, and interviews with various people on the history of WABC. Rick Sklar begins by talking about the "lifestyle" of WABC Music Radio over the past twenty years, intermingled with cuts from previous radio shows. The last regular Ron Lundy Show, broadcast Friday May 7, 1982, contains splices of talk and music. The last regular Dan Ingram Show, broadcast Friday May 7, 1982, contains excerpts from the show; Dan Ingram talks and plays his favorite songs of the 1960s and 1970s (incomplete); Rick James gives the news; Dan Ingram then plays songs, and tapes of Howard Cosell and Rick James doing a spoof on the news, as well as Palmer Paine with the news and Dan Ingram with the news. Rick Sklar then introduces the next portion of the program which includes excerpts of programming from Saturday, May 8, 1982, and news with Bob Capers and Mark Summers. Sklar introduces the next portion of the program: the last Peter Bush Show, broadcast on Sunday, May 9, 1982, which opens with an introduction by Peter Bush; the program is intermingled with excerpts of songs by the Beatles and phone calls from the general public sharing their memories of WABC Music Radio; the news with Bob Capers and Peter Bush; Art Russ, Jr. on sports. Lastly Rick Sklar introduces the "Farewell Show," broadcast on May 10, 1982, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This show is presented in its entirety but with the music and commercials incomplete.
