JACK BENNY PROGRAM FOR GRAPE-NUTS AND GRAPE-NUTS
FLAKES, THE {GEORGE BURNS, GRACIE ALLEN} (RADIO)

Summary

One in this series of comedy/variety programs hosted by Jack Benny. Due to illness, Jack Benny is unable to host this program. Therefore, Don Wilson asks George Burns and Gracie Allen to be substitute hosts. Though George is more than happy to do the program, Gracie refuses to accompany him. Gracie explains that she is about to make her concert debut and would not want to spoil her chances of becoming a well-respected pianist by appearing on a comedy program. Highlights of this program include the following segments: Dennis Day sings "There Are Such Things"; Bill Goodwin shows up, hoping that he can do the announcing on the show instead of Don Wilson; Gracie serves dinner to her duck Herman; Rochester meets Herman for the first time; the orchestra performs "That Old Black Magic"; and Dennis Day uses his charming intellect to convince Gracie to do Jack's show. Includes commercials and public service announcements.
