Summary
One in this series of talk/variety programs hosted by
Johnny Carson. In this program, Muppet character Kermit
the Frog fills in for Carson as guest host. With the
help of Fozzie Bear, Kermit delivers the opening
monologue and introduces guests Vincent Price,
Bernadette Peters, British pop singer Leo Sayer, and
animal expert Dr. Michael Fox. Appearing throughout the
program are many of Jim Henson's Muppets, including
Gonzo the Great, Animal, Statler and Waldorf, Scooter,
Sgt. Floyd Pepper and the Muppet band performing "New
York State of Mind," and Miss Piggy, who announces her
engagement to Kermit. Highlights include the following:
Price discusses his career as an actor in horror
movies; Peters sings the swing tune "Wake Up and Live";
Sayer sings songs from his latest album, including a
duet version of "When I Need You" with Miss Piggy; Fox
discusses the mating habits of frogs and pigs; and
Kermit sings his signature song, "It's Not Easy Bein'
Green." Also included is a clip from the film "The
Muppet Movie," featuring Kermit and Miss Piggy with
Steve Martin. Commercials deleted.
