SECRET AGENT: THE BLACK BOOK (TV)

Summary

One in this series of spy dramas concerning the adventures of John Drake, special security agent for the British government. In this episode, Drake is ordered to investigate a case of blackmail involving Sir Noel Blanchard, a diplomat stationed in Paris. With the aid of a small, strategically placed microphone, Drake follows Blanchard to the rendezvous point, where the payoff is picked up by a mysterious young woman, Simone. Drake follows Simone home and introduces himself as a fellow crook looking to break into the lucrative blackmail racket. By gaining Simone's confidence, Drake uncovers the extortion ring masterminded by her boyfriend Serge, an ambitious Russian defector, who in turn is being sought by operatives from his native country for having stolen an invaluable intelligence file, "The Black Book." Commercials deleted. (This series is an expanded version of "Danger Man," which ran on CBS in 1961.)
