Summary
One in this series of live interview programs. In this edition, host Edward R. Murrow first visits the Manhattan home of entertainer Arlene Francis, her husband, actor/director/producer Martin Gabel, and their eight-year-old son Peter, who discuss the following topics, among others: whether they spend a lot of family time together; Francis having so many different shows on the air; whether Peter gets a kick out of seeing his mother on TV; the attractive heart-shaped necklace that Gabel gave Francis on their one-year anniversary; Gabel's work producing Broadway plays; Gabel's current work on a musical called "Serenade"; whether Francis would ever like to do a Broadway show; why Peter likes "King Lear" so much; and how good Peter is at playing the violin. Francis gives a tour of the house, showing off some pictures on the wall featuring some of their famous friends such as Orson Welles, after which Peter plays "America" on his violin. Next, Murrow visits with Texas oilman Clint Murchison who discusses the following topics, among others: why he likes to go to bed early; what his morning routine is like; what his greatest abilities are as a businessman; how he made his first million dollars; how much luck plays into business; and the greatest achievement of his life. Then, Murchison introduces his family: his wife Virginia, his daughter Jane, and his sons Burke, John Dabney, and Clint W. Murchison further discusses such topics as: the importance of electronics in the future; his ambition as a youth; business deals that should be avoided; and how important money is to business enterprises.
