MAVERICK: GUN-SHY (TV)
Summary
One in this series of offbeat western dramas about the Mavericks, gambling men who prefer playing poker to gunplay. In this episode, an illiterate farmer approaches Maverick and two men, Hawkins and Badger, with a letter. He explains that he found it on the remains of a dead man he discovered on his farm. Maverick reads the letter for the farmer and says he will give it to the sheriff of the town. Secretly, Maverick recognizes that the man who signed the letter was a Confederate officer who was thought to have fled the country with a half a million dollars in gold coins, and that the letter is a coded message explaining where the money is hidden. Hawkins and Badger also realize the significance of the letter, and all three men race to locate the missing treasure. Meanwhile, Maverick must deal with a crusading marshal who keeps throwing him out of town. In the end, the three treasure hunters find their treasure -- and are surprised by its value. Includes commercials and promos.
