BEAUX ARTS TRIO, THE: AN ENDURING SOUND (TV)

Summary

In this program, the Beaux Arts Trio -- violinist Isidore Cohen, cellist Bernard Greenhouse and pianist Menahem Pressler -- celebrates its 30th anniverary in a special concert held at the Indiana University Musical Arts Center. Before the concert, the musicians are interviewed backstage. They comment on their musical goals and the pieces that they are about to perform. The group then performs the Trio in E-flat Major, Opus 100, by Franz Schubert. In footage from an earlier interview at Tanglewood, the musicians recall personal experiences from their 30 years of traveling and performing together. The concert concludes with a performance of the Finale from Haydn's Trio No. 43 in C Major.

Acquisition and cataloging of this program was made possible by a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
