ELVIS AND ME {PART 1 OF 2} (TV)
Summary
Part one of this two-part docudrama based on Priscilla Beaulieu Presley's account of her life with Elvis Presley. Part one begins in 1959 at an army base in Austin, Texas, where Priscilla's father learns that he is being transferred to a base in Germany. Soon after the Beaulieus' arrival in Wiesbaden, Germany, Priscilla and her brother attend an Elvis Presley-look-alike contest. There, Priscilla meets an officer who later introduces her to the real Elvis. Presley is taken with the fourteen year old and asks to see her again. Although Priscilla's parents are not happy with the idea, they allow their daughter to spend time with the rock-and-roll star. Elvis spends many evenings with Priscilla, talking about his mother, who died shortly after he left the United States for Germany. Elvis explains that he is afraid to return to his home knowing that she will not be there. Priscilla begins falling in love with Presley despite his bad temper and his flirtations with other women. She asks him to make love to her before returning to the United States, but he refuses. After Elvis is shipped back home, Priscilla finds herself being harassed by the press. She insists on being allowed to visit Elvis in Los Angeles and later on, in Graceland. While spending time with him, Priscilla experiments with amphetimines and sleeping pills. When she is in Germany, Priscilla finds that she cannot stand being apart from her love. Elvis suggests that she attend an all-girls Catholic school in Memphis, and Priscilla decides to follow his wishes. However, the young teenager finds much resistance from her parents. Also, included are home movies of Priscilla as a child and stills of Elvis. Includes commercials, promos, and an ABC News Brief. This program is closed-captioned.
