HOTHOUSE: THE GOOD FAMILY {TAPE 2 OF 2} {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
Continued from T:12885. Tape two of two. The premiere in this drama series about a family-run psychiatric clinic in the Boston area. In this part, Ved wonders to Marie why they can't take their relationship public -- not realizing that the whole staff already knows about them. Later, Marie and Lucy wonder who Sam will hire as a doctor to take David's place. Lucy laments the men in her life, or the lack thereof. Art begins questioning Ida on her shoplifting habits and her feelings on Joe's election campaign. At the same time, Joe walks the grounds, worried about his wife and her surroundings in the clinic. Afterward, Art casually meets with Sam, discussing his session with Ida before revealing that she stole his pen. Later, Kim flips out over Mike, a patient who scared her. As a result, Sam feels that she isn't well-suited to the job and should be let go. Then, an excited Matt reveals to his father that Claudia is pregnant. Meanwhile, Marie, Ved, Issy, and Leonard mock Art and the book he claims to be writing. The next day, Art again meets with Ida, asking her why she stole his pen and how it made her feel. Eventually, Art gets to the root of the problem: Ida is hurt by how Joe has ignored her during the campaign and doesn't want him to win the election. Later, Sam and Ved talk about their relationships, current and past. Sam reveals that he is both scared that Lily may come, and scared that she may not. As Sam and others anxiously anticipate Lily's arrival, Ida runs to the clinic after an encounter with Joe. There, she reveals to Sam that Joe hit her. Sam then gives her an upstairs room to stay in for the night. Joe tracks Ida to the clinic, confronting Sam and attempting to see his wife. Before Sam has to call a "code blue," Joe stops his pursuit and sits down with Sam. Joe discusses their questionable friendship over the years, chastising Sam for some of his past behavior. Later, when Lily hasn't shown, Sam goes to Marie's room to have a brief heart-to-heart with her. The pair allude to their own days as a romantic couple. Afterward, Sam goes back to his office to find that Lily has in fact arrived -- and brought her new husband Carter. Furthermore, Carter has purchased the nearby Sherman farm to fix up as a studio for Lily. The episode ends as Sam has to meet with a patient delegation, unsure of what the future may hold. Includes commercials.
