PAUL WINCHELL AND JERRY MAHONEY SHOW, THE {WINTER
OUTING} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of variety shows that feature
ventriloquist Paul Winchell, his "dummies," and members
of the Jerry Mahoney Club. In this episode, Winch,
Jerry Mahoney and other members of the club go on a
"winter outing" near a lake, then sing the show's
opening song, "Hooray, Hurrah," Jerry and Knucklehead
Smiff discuss hanging out near the cold lake, trying to
stay warm before Knucklehead opts for ice fishing.
Then, Winch and Jerry discuss eating lunch, even though
it's only been fifteen minutes since they had
breakfast. After finding that the food has frozen
solid, they pull out a Sterno stove and sing "How Do You
Like Your Eggs in the Morning." Then, Carol comes by
with a bunny rabbit she found in the woods and sings
"Here Comes Peter Cottontail." Afterward, Carol asks
Knucklehead how his icefishing is going before Irving
the mouse joins them. Knucklehead sings "Why Fish Do
Not Freeze." Next, Freddy joins Knucklehead to act out
a Revolutionary War scene of soldiers battling the cold.
Then, heavily-padded Milton tries to learn to ice
skate, eventually falling into a hole in the ice. After
escaping, a cold and wet Milton warms up while Winch,
Jerry, and Carol sing "Winter Time." The show closes
with the club members singing "Friends, Friends,
Friends, We Will Always Be ..." Also, cast and puppets
do in-studio commercials for Tootsie Roll candies.
Includes commercials.
