HAPPY DAYS: THEY CALL IT POTSIE LOVE (TV)
Summary
One in the series of comedies about life in the 1950s. In this episode, Joanie returns from a date with "a goofball" and asks her mother how one knows that they're in love. Later at Arnold's, Potsie practices his singing, crooning "Put Your Head On My Shoulder" to Joanie. She is instantly smitten, even defending his reputation when Ralph calls him "a nerd." As a sign of her ardor, Joanie stays with Potsie at Arnold's to help him clean up after the gig. That night, she dreams that Richie and Ralph are discussing her upcoming marriage to Potsie. Joanie imagines Potsie being cooler than everyone, even the now-nebbishy Fonz. However, Howard and Marion insist that Potsie is a nerd. She goes through with the ceremony anyway, then is awakened when her parents get home. The next day, she asks Fonz to teach her some dating techniques. He tells her how much he enjoys "a mystery woman." Later, due to Fonz, Joanie begins sending anonymous love notes to Potsie. In the seventh note, Joanie makes a plan for them to meet. Late one night, following her instructions, Potsie arrives alone at Arnold's. When Joanie shows herself, Potsie thinks she is ruining his rendezvous -- until she reveals that she is the mystery lady. Potsie has to gently reject the young Joanie, telling her that when she is older she probably won't feel the same way about him. Then, Richie and Ralph arrive and Joanie has to scramble to hide. Ralph and Potsie leave together but Richie spots Joanie's jacket and knows she is hiding. Richie kindly comforts his sister. However, Joanie remains bummed out until her mother explains that time will soon heal her love wounds. Includes commercials.
