PLAYHOUSE 90: THE LAST MAN (TV)

Summary

One in this dramatic anthology series. In this program, which takes place in the later half of the nineteenth century, a man named Mitch Barrett becomes embittered when his wife dies needlessly in childbirth. A stubborn storekeeper refused to give Mitch -- who was new in town and short on money -- the medication he needed for his wife. Mitch stays in the town for six years and becomes a respected bank-teller and artist. Then, he claims that he is leaving town to get married. However, he really sets out to search for a group of outsiders to assist him in a bank robbery. During the robbery he intends to have the storekeeper, who caused him so much grief, murdered. Mitch heads to Royce City where he enlists a gunshooter, a confederate lieutenant, a barmaid, a con artist, and a stableman to help him in robbing a shipment of gold arriving in his town. The five recruits do not realize how hateful Mitch is until it is too late. After the robbery, Mitch begins to murder his cohorts one by one. Includes commercials and a promo.
