ARCHIE BUNKER'S PLACE: ARCHIE'S NEW PARTNER {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The premiere of this comedy series -- based on the series "All in the Family" -- about Archie Bunker and his neighborhood bar. In this special, one-hour premiere, Murray Klein, an old-timer from the neighborhood, introduces himself to the gang at the bar, but leaves upon taking offense to Archie's anti-Semitic remark. Archie's business partner, Harry, refuses to expand the bar into a restaurant, and as a result, Harry decides to sell his half of the business. Archie tries to purchase the other half by borrowing money, but a bank vice-president says he lacks collateral for a loan. Ultimately, Harry sells his half of the bar -- to Murray Klein. Murray's mother is incensed that he's buying a bar, but he signs the papers anyway, unaware of how truly contentious his new partner will be. Shocked upon hearing the news, Archie has an argument with Murray and ultimately confides that he is a difficult person, asserting their differences would make cooperation impossible. Relenting, Murray prepares to phone his lawyer and ask him to find a new buyer for his share of the bar. But Archie's niece, Stephanie, shows up wearing a Star of David and remarks that Archie joined her temple so she could attend the Jewish school. As a result, Murray has a change of heart and they agree to remain temporary partners. Commercials deleted.
