CAROL BURNETT SHOW, THE {GEORGE CARLIN, LUCILLE BALL} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedy/variety programs starring Carol Burnett. This program features guests George Carlin and Lucille Ball. Highlights include: after Burnett introduces her guests and takes questions from the studio audience, Carlin does a stand-up routine in which he criticizes the Emmy Awards as being unfair because they favor the big budget shows, and then does his version of a television show called "The FBI's Most Wanted," as if it were on a big budget; Burnett performs a song that was written for her by an audience member; Burnett and Lucille Ball portray airline stewardesses competing for votes in order to be nominated as "best employee," who, while pampering a passenger (played by Harvey Korman), foil a hijacking attempt without realizing it; Lyle Wagoner and Vicki Lawrence sing "Try a Little Kindness"; Burnett sings "I Say a Little Prayer for You" while in the shower; she stars in a spoof on the movie "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice"; Burnett and Ball star in a sketch about two old-time vaudeville performers, who last performed in 1919 and now get discovered by a disc jockey (George Carlin) looking for an extra act for a rock concert in 1969. Includes commercials. (This program is a black-and-white copy of a color telecast.)
