CHICKEN SOUP: PILOT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The premiere of this comedy series about a Jewish man named Jackie Fisher, who is secretly dating his Irish-Catholic neighbor, Maddie Peerce, a mother with three children. In this episode, Jackie informs his live-in mother, Bea, that he plans to quit his job of twenty-two years as a pajama salesman. Bea is unsure of why Jackie wants to quit, considering he has no other prospects, especially in the dating department. In the meantime, Maddie asks Bea to babysit her children because she has tickets to the opera. Leaving for his last day at the office, Jackie drops by Maddie's apartment, but Maddie is distracted when her teenage daughter announces she wants to move in with her boyfriend. Before Jackie can quit his job, his boss fires him; stunned by this news, Jackie convinces his boss to rehire him so he can train the new salesmen, and upon being rehired, he quits anyway. As Jackie and Maddie have lunch together, she asks him to the opera, and they arrange to meet on the street to avoid arousing Bea's suspicion. That night, Jackie goes to Maddie's apartment and declares that they should tell Bea about their relationship. Includes commercials and promos. This program is closed-captioned.
