JULIE & CAROL: TOGETHER AGAIN (TV)
Summary
In this special comedy/variety program, Carol Burnett and Julie Andrews reunite years after their memorable performaces at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center for a night of music and comedy at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. The program opens with the duet "Old Friends" by sophisticated Andrews and down-to-earth Burnett about how long they've been friends, highlighted by clips from their first special together in 1962 at Carnegie Hall, then in 1971 at Lincoln Center. Next, the women spoof rap music via a performance about the difficulty of being mothers. Andrews and Burnett later put on their "medley dresses" to have some tea and celebrate 25 years of friendship. They also note some differences between being American and being English -- which leads to a unique food fight. Next, the women perform a medley of songs from the 1970s and '80s that includes "Sing," "You've Got a Friend," "I Am Woman," "One," "How Lucky Can You Get," "New York, New York," "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?," "I Can't Live (If Living Is Without You)," "The Way We Were," "I Am ... I Said," "Feelings," "Memories," "Stayin' Alive," "Bad," and "That's What Friends Are For." Next, the women spoof both Nashville country music and Broadway with "The Phantom of the Opry." The show ends with a duet of "All the Time" and a reprise of "Old Friends." Includes commercials.
