CBS STORYBREAK: THE PIG PLANTAGENET (TV)

Summary

One in a series of animated adaptations of children's books hosted by Bob Keeshan, better known as "Captain Kangaroo." This story is about a courageous pig named Plantagenet, who strives for peace and understanding between the creatures of the forest and the people of the land. Plantagenet is the pet of a young girl named Adele who lives on a farm. One day he is locked outside of the farm after being tricked into jumping over the wall surrounding his home by Adele's jealous dog. As Plantagenet wanders through the forest he is suddenly cornered by a ferocious wolf. Luckily, the wild boars of the woods come to his rescue. They are shocked to learn that he lives with human beings, just as Plantagenet is shocked to learn that the animals consider mankind to be their foremost enemy. Meanwhile, back at the farm, the men of the nearby town plan to make a road through the forest to create a shortcut to the market where they sell their crops. Unfortunately, when the men enter the woods, the animals view this as a sign of invasion and attack the trespassers, who flee immediately. On the other hand, the men see this attack as a declaration of war and plan to return with weapons in order to kill the boars. Plantagenet realizes that it is up to him to reconcile the two sides before it is too late. Commercials deleted.
