JIMMY DURANTE SHOW, THE {MARILYN MAXWELL} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedy/variety shows about entertainer Jimmy Durante and the employees of his nightclub, "The Club Durant." In this episode, after Jimmy makes a flip comment about getting out of show business, guest star Marilyn Maxwell hires "business psychologist" Dr. Fritz Schultz to help Jimmy find a more suitable career. The next day, Dr. Schultz performs a series of tests on Jimmy. One test, which involves jugglers and a knife thrower, is used to evaluate Jimmy's ability to concentrate. After Jimmy and Maxwell sing "You're Much Too Pretty for Me," Dr. Schultz proclaims that Jimmy should be a painter. However, later Jimmy's conscience (affectionately known as "Consh") appears and tells Jimmy that the whole "business psychology" thing is just a "put-up job" concocted by his friends at the club to show him that he belongs in show business. That night at The Durant, Jimmy, Maxwell, Eddie Jackson, and The Durante Girls perform "Painted by Durante." Commercials deleted.
