Summary
One in this series of dramas. This depiction of the life of the American painter Mark Rothko covers his final, tormented days and the litigation over his estate following his tragic suicide. In a series of flashbacks augmented by narration, this portrait provides a glimpse into the interior and exterior demons that preyed on the anguished artist during his life. Following Rothko's death, the scandal over his controversial will and the illegal disbursement and sale of hundreds of his canvases culminates in a trial involving executors, former friends, and art dealers who had conspired to rob the artist's family and estate of millions of dollars. Includes a promo for the following week's "American Playhouse" production, "Fifth of July."
