BRIAN BOITANO'S CANVAS OF ICE (TV)
Summary
In this special, 1988 Olympic gold medalist Brian Boitano offers insight into the life of a skater with assistance from his friend and Olympic counterpart Katarina Witt. First, Boitano visits a skating rink in Toronto where he instills confidence in Jessica Kramer. Boitano encourages the young skater's dreams by skating to the "Music of the Night" from "The Phantom of the Opera." This display of skating expertise inspires Kramer to skate to her heart's content to the song "Anything Goes." Then, Boitano begins to think about his close friend Katarina Witt, who is performing in Paris. Witt is shown skating to a medley of musical theater music which includes "Maria." Witt goes to her dressing room where she thinks about Boitano. Suddenly he appears and the couple go out on the ice where they enjoy each other's company. Then, the two Olympic champions visit Berlin and Dresden. They entertain each other with seductive dances on the ice. Next, the couple visits Karl Marz Stadt, the rink where Witt skated as a child. There, the two skilled performers skate with a group of children to the upbeat song "Good Lovin'" and perform a duet to the song "Raise Your Hands to Heaven." Finally, Boitano finds himself alone once again. He skates outdoors in Alaska to Americana music. Also included is brief footage of Witt's and Boitano's gold medal performances. Commercials deleted.
