LES FILLES DE CALEB: EMILIE {EPISODE 10} {FRENCH
DUBBED IN ENGLISH} (TV)
Summary
From the bestselling novel of the same name by Arlette Cousture (based on the life of her grandmother), this Canadian series, set in the lush countryside of central Quebec, follows the life of Emilie Bordeleau (Marina Orsini), a young woman coming of age in the late 1800s. Emilie is the quintessential Quebec woman: a survivor who is strong-willed and unflinching in her beliefs. In the tenth episode of the 20-part series, Emilie's lover and former student Ovila (Dupuis) returns home after being away and proposes to Emilie, who angrily refuses his advances. Torn by mixed emotions, she goes back to her parents' home to consider the proposal, and after a heartfelt discussion with her father, Emilie tells Ovila she will marry him. In French, dubbed in English. (This program received the award for Continuing Series, 1991 Banff Television Festival.)
