I'LL FLY AWAY: PARALLEL LIVES (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas about Lilly Harper, a black domestic worker; Forrest Bedford, a white district attorney; and their respective families at the inception of the black civil rights movement in the South. In this episode, District Attorney Bedford is campaigning for the office of state attorney general, but he is confronted by white factory workers who are angry that their friend has been jailed and accused of murdering a black man. Forrest faces a difficult political problem: Christina LeKatzis, the local prosecutor, is pushing him to protect a witness and prosecute to the full extent of the law. Lilly, meanwhile, is worried about her father, Lewis, a great Negro League baseball player who has been living in the past and recalling the great games of his youth. When he disappears, Forrest and Lilly search for him and find him at the baseball field. Meanwhile, Coach Zollicofer accuses Forrest's son, Nathaniel, of throwing a brick through the school window. Nathaniel's friend Paul is the real culprit, and the wrestling coach forces him to confess. Commercials deleted.
