MR. BELVEDERE: STRANGER IN THE NIGHT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The pilot in this series of comedies about the members of a Pittsburgh family and the cultured English housekeeper who takes care of them. In this episode, Marsha Owens, recently returned to law school, is in the market for a housekeeper who can keep an eye on her three children, when Lynn Belvedere arrives, announcing that her search is over. He will be perfect for the job, he informs her. Marsha insists on an interview before she makes a decision so Mr. Belvedere produces letters of reference, including one from Winston Churchill. When her husband, George, comes home, he dismisses the housekeeper, but a blizzard forces Mr. Belvedere to remain as a guest for the night. By the next morning, Mr. Belvedere has helped Wesley find his lost hamster, learned of Heather's concern about an overanxious boyfriend, and taught Kevin that taking on new responsibilities is part of growing up. Marsha and the kids are so impressed with Mr. Belvedere that George reluctantly agrees to let him stay. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements.
