JIM HENSON'S "GHOST OF FAFFNER HALL": YOUR BODY IS AN INSTRUMENT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of children's educational music programs, featuring Jim Henson's puppets as the music-loving residents of Faffner Hall, a music conservatory haunted by the ghost Fughetta Faffner. In the premiere, which features special guest musicians and performers HŠkan Hardenberger, Gary Karr, and Bobby McFerrin, the residents of the hall must find a way to outsmart the new proprietor, Farkas Faffner, who has little interest in music and intends to auction off the hall's collection of valuable musical instruments. The ghost Fughetta Faffner -- the founder of the conservatory and a distant relative of Farkas -- is disturbed that Farkas is only interested in the monetary value of the instruments, and helps the residents in their attempt to teach Farkas that every instrument is used to express the unique voice of a musician and is, therefore, priceless. They point out that anyone can make music by using their body as an instrument, including the musical group The Belly Bashers and their special guest, The-Thing-That-Clapped, who use their hands and bodies to make music. Included are performances by Gary Karr on double bass and HŠkan Hardenberger on trumpet. Bobby McFerrin demonstrates how he uses his body as his orchestra to express himself in song, and sings "My Body Is My Instrument." When Wild Impresario listens to a tape of McFerrin, Fughetta gets an idea about how to stop Farkas from selling the instruments. No commercials.
