Summary
One in this series of dramas that deals with the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of criminals. The first half of each episode concerns the police procedure that leads to the arrest of a suspect, while the second half covers the efforts of the district attorney to prosecute the case. In this episode, Detective Sergeant Max Greevey and Detective Mike Logan investigate the apparent cold-blooded murder of a young man. Though his apartment has been made to look as if it had been burglarized, the detectives realize that there is more to the case than meets the eye. After much investigation, Greevey and Logan discover that two other identical murders had occurred in California and that all three victims knew a man named Jack Curry. They arrest Curry, who explains that all three deaths were mercy killings. Each of the deceased was a homosexual with AIDS who wished to commit suicide, but for some reason could not do it on his own. Assistant district attorneys Ben Stone and Paul Robinette bring the case to court and are immediately attacked by gay activist groups. When, they learn that Curry himself has AIDS, Stone wishes to drop the case, but finds that he cannot after a woman murders her mentally handicapped son upon hearing about Curry and his mercy killings.
