YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES, THE: YOUNG INDIANA JONES AND THE CURSE OF THE JACKAL (TV)

Summary

The special two-hour premiere of this adventure series about a young American who travels the world and becomes involved with the historical figures and events of his time. In this episode, while visiting Cairo in 1908, the young Henry "Indiana" Jones meets Lawrence of Arabia (T.E. Lawrence) who invites him to visit a dig. Henry arrives just after a tomb has been discovered and is one of the first to venture inside it. The archaeologists find a secret chamber which they believe contains precious artifacts. Unfortunately, because of poisonous gas contained in its walls, the chamber must be aired out overnight. During the night, the guard on duty, Rasheed, is murdered. Lawrence believes there must be a reason for the murder and, with Henry, discovers that a headpiece in the chamber is missing its most valuable part, a jackal containing precious stones. Lawrence's investigation reveals that the murderer and thief is a man named Demetrios, who evades being captured by fleeing the country. Eight years later, Henry, who now calls himself "Indy," encounters Demetrios when he becomes caught up in the Mexican Revolution. Both he and Demetrios, who is operating under a pseudonym, are fighting on the side of Pancho Villa against General Pershing. Indy decides he will recover the jackal and make sure that it is put where it belongs: in a museum. Includes commercials. This program is closed-captioned.
