TWILIGHT ZONE, THE: THE FOUR OF US ARE DYING (TV)

Summary

One in this fantasy/science fiction anthology series hosted by Rod Serling. This episode involves Arch Hammer, a thirty-six-year-old thug with one extraordinary talent -- the ability to change his facial features in order to look like anyone else he chooses. Hammer checks into the Hotel Real and pours over some obituaries searching for new identities. He first becomes Johnny Foster, a talented jazz musician who was killed in an automobile accident. Hammer visits Johnny's girlfriend, Maggie, a beautiful singer who only sings the blues since her boyfriend's death. Stunned and thrilled to see her former lover alive, Maggie happily agrees to go to Chicago with him later that night. Having chosen his new girlfriend, Hammer now needs money, and metamorphoses to resemble the picture that accompanies the obituary of Virgil Sterig, a criminal murdered in a gangland slaying. Sterig's boss had cheated him out of his cut of stolen money, and when Sterig now shows up to collect his share, his old boss thinks he has seen a ghost. With lots of money and a beautiful girlfriend waiting for him at the train station, Hammer takes on a fourth persona to try to elude the thugs who are now after "Sterig" and the police detective who is after the chameleon himself. Commercials deleted.
